About the Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Package Manager – FIT OUT to join our Major Projects team working on the iconic Old Oak Common station development. This £1 billion HS2 project will create the UK’s best-connected rail station, featuring six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the Great Western Main Line. The station will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, the North, and direct connections to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will deliver an exceptional customer experience for passengers and visitors alike.

As Assistant Package Manager, you will:
- Review drawings, specifications, models and technical requirements, ensuring construction compliance
- Coordinate RFIs, technical queries and design information, maintaining trackers and supporting timely close-out
- Support resolution of construction-related issues by developing practical options and escalating decisions beyond delegated authority
- Coordinate interfaces with other fit-out packages, MEPH, lifts, escalators, logistics and access requirements
- Support the Package Manager by taking ownership of delegated package activities, ensuring completion of actions and prompt escalation of risks
- Collaborate with the fit-out team, support functions and supply chain partners to achieve package objectives
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of subcontractors and support effective onboarding, briefings and communication

Requirements

Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building or equivalent discipline
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card appropriate to the role
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), or commitment to obtain within agreed timeframe
- Working knowledge of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, permits and common construction control processes
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and models and apply them to site delivery
- Working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and interfaces relevant to architectural fit-out
- Ability to coordinate technical information, design queries and construction issue resolution
- Basic understanding of temporary works, permits and technical assurance requirements

Organised and proactive with strong communication skills. Able to work collaboratively within a team and manage subcontractor activities effectively. Committed to health and safety and delivering high quality outcomes.

Qualifications
Relevant degree qualification as stated above. CSCS card and SSSTS/SMSTS certification or willingness to obtain these qualifications within an agreed timeframe.
