About the Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Package Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – be part of the largest construction project in the UK. HS2’s new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you'll be doing
You will be responsible for the management of the mechanical packages from inception through to delivery. This includes managing the mechanical elements associated with the entire development and overseeing the appointed sub-contractors delivering the mechanical systems, lifts, and escalators. You will lead the current team management and ensure the scope of works are delivered to an exemplar standard in terms of Health and Safety, Quality, Environment, and Sustainability. You will ensure quality standards are achieved, maintained, and improved upon while championing innovation and new ways of working where appropriate. Your role will involve providing adequate input and management in design, constructability, consents, 3rd party approvals, procurement, construction processes, snagging, handover, and assurance deliverables. You will foster open, transparent, and professional relationships with all stakeholders, fulfilling the construction partner role to the satisfaction of HS2. Additionally, you will drive the construction programme, interface with other teams and contractors, identify threats and opportunities, and regularly monitor progress and outputs.

Experience
- Mechanical environmental engineering experience
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of NEC Contract
- Experience working in or around a rail environment

Qualifications
Relevant certifications and qualifications in mechanical/environmental engineering and project management are expected.
