About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) team, supporting the M25 London Orbital Motorway project. CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25—Europe’s busiest motorway. Delivering over £100m of annual investment alongside planned and reactive maintenance, this is a complex and high-profile network requiring robust and efficient planning.

Key responsibilities include:
- Operating in the capacity of the Portfolio Manager in their absence
- Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of project delivery objectives
- Reporting on and reviewing project performance and agreeing solutions to issues
- Maintaining compliance with the DBFO contract, clarifying roles and responsibilities within your team
- Resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing accurate reports and maintaining specified records including change management
- Identifying and evaluating emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints, escalating and implementing solutions as appropriate
- Managing global or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios
- Overseeing portfolio income and cost profiles and challenging Project Managers’ input
- Client liaison at both project and portfolio levels
- Managing project change control and reviewing processes and procedures
- Allocating projects to Project Managers based on knowledge, experience, ability, and workload
- Working arrangements may include shift work and travel to other offices and depots as required
- Periodic requirement for site visits including night shifts
- Full driving licence required

Experience
- Delivery of highways construction and maintenance operations or similar transferable experience
- Project Management skills, preferably supported by recognised PM qualification such as PRINCE2 or APMP
- Experience at a senior level in highways construction and maintenance delivery
- Experience managing projects through complete lifecycle
- Broad knowledge and understanding of other design areas
- Experience coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Team leadership and management experience driving performance and productivity
- Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience
- Understanding of Lean principles
- Knowledge of CDM and other Health & Safety legislation and competent in exercising duties under CDM
- Applicable CSCS Card

Qualifications
- Minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in civil engineering or other construction-based discipline preferred
- Recognised Project Management qualification preferred (e.g. PRINCE2, APMP)
