About the Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Package Manager / Sub Agent to join our Major Projects team working on the iconic Old Oak Common station development, part of the HS2 project. This £1 billion station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station, featuring six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the Great Western Main Line. The station will provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, the North, and direct links to three major airports. The development includes passenger and retail facilities designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The project supports up to 65,000 jobs and 25,000 homes, contributing to one of Britain’s largest regeneration initiatives. A new public park will be created as part of the Urban Realm to the west of the station, providing green space and a community focal point. At peak construction, the project will have a direct management team of 140 and a wider workforce of approximately 2,500.

Key responsibilities include managing the site team, subcontractors, suppliers, and third parties while ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. You will develop construction methodology and programmes, assist with design development, and prepare for delivery including resources, procurement, consents, and pre-start documentation. You will supervise, train, and mentor the site team to optimise performance.

Additional duties involve reviewing contractual agreements, developing detailed site-specific programmes and budgets, monitoring productivity and progress, and reporting to the Senior Package Manager and Commercial team. You will ensure full understanding of subcontractor contract conditions and communicate non-conformances and client instructions effectively.

Experience
- HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of highways and utility construction techniques, sequencing, and best practice
- Experience working with and implementing construction contracts
- Ability to use initiative based on engineering and practical experience
- Skilled at working independently and proactively, as well as collaboratively with integrated teams and external stakeholders
- Computer competence including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, and AutoCAD
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
