About the Role
Join Balfour Beatty as a Group Buyer within the Central Procurement team based in Canary Wharf. You will be responsible for category management within Corporate and Professional Services as part of the Indirect Procurement team. This role requires a strong understanding of the industry and related supply chain. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify business requirements, deliver effective procurement activities, support due diligence, and appoint suppliers that provide added value aligned with the business’ strategic goals and objectives.
Your key responsibilities will include developing strong relationships with stakeholders to drive the category plan and ensure procurement involvement and support. You will manage end-to-end sourcing activities via the eProcurement system in line with category strategy and stakeholder needs. Negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers in accordance with Group procedures and collaborating with stakeholders will be essential.
Additionally, you will implement robust contract and supplier relationship management processes with clear metrics and governance to ensure performance meets service level agreements and drives continuous improvement. You will develop, communicate, and monitor a comprehensive category plan that complements the strategic goals of the business unit and wider organisation.
Ensuring the supply chain complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and that services meet appropriate quality and performance standards is critical. You will also collaborate with the Procurement Sustainability team to develop initiatives and advance the company’s sustainability agenda.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement and supply chain management
- Proven experience in procurement and category management, including running end-to-end tenders and sourcing projects
- Skilled in negotiating commercial and contractual agreements
- Experience reviewing and negotiating legal agreements including Terms and Conditions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software tools

Qualifications
- CIPS Level 4 qualified and currently studying towards CIPS Level 5 and 6 or equivalent
- Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain, Business, Economics or related field preferred
