About the Role
Do you have the potential to make a visible difference to the lives of children and their families? Join the London Borough of Sutton as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (ASYE) and embark on a supported and structured Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme. Sutton’s Children’s Services are committed to delivering excellent services that positively impact children and families. Judged 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted in 2025, we continue our journey to Outstanding with a restorative and trauma-informed model of practice.
The ASYE programme is delivered within a social work academy framework, offering newly qualified social workers the opportunity to develop their practice and knowledge based on the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Practitioners. The programme is jointly delivered between adults and children’s social care and supported by experienced ASYE assessors who are qualified Practice Educators.
You will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision, protected study time, and participate in professionally facilitated Action Learning Sets alongside a wide range of training and development opportunities. You will manage a protected caseload throughout the programme and benefit from a supportive management and team environment designed to help you grow in confidence and competence.
Sutton is a vibrant borough with excellent transport links to Central London, award-winning parks, low crime rates, affordable housing, and great schools. We are home to the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, and part of the London Cancer Hub, a world-leading life-science district. Sutton is passionate about working closely with residents and vulnerable groups to maintain independence and balance support with independent living.
We are proud to offer a supportive, friendly, and collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions are valued. Join us on this incredible journey to make a real difference in the community.
