Tutor for Exercise – Outreach

Tuesdays 15:00-16:00, Wednesdays 16:00-17:00, with other dates and times potentially available
Salary
Grade 7 SP 23 – £27.66 to SP 33 – £33.96 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced tutor to develop and deliver community exercise courses including:
- Work Fit: gentle exercise classes supporting individuals to improve physical and mental health to get fit for work, held onsite at Sutton College.
- Wheelchair, Seated & Standing Exercise Class: short exercise programmes within a local residential home to improve fitness, wellbeing, and mental health.
Both programmes consist of 1-hour sessions currently planned for Tuesdays at 15:00 and Wednesdays at 16:00.
The post holder will ensure high-quality delivery through Quality Assurance processes and contribute to the College’s growth by supporting a vibrant curriculum aimed at excellent learner outcomes. The role also involves assisting with curriculum development, personalised employment support, and learner progression. Collaboration with the Head of Curriculum & Quality is essential to deliver a programme aligned with learner and employer needs.
We are particularly interested in tutors who can support learners to:
- Achieve their personal goals on their enrolled courses
- Gain life skills within and outside the classroom
- Prepare for their next steps in learning or work
You should have a passion for teaching, strong subject knowledge, and a commitment to enhancing learners’ opportunities.
Experience
- Teaching in Adult Education or Further Education post-16 college/training environment
- Experience teaching a range of levels in the subject area
- Experience with quality improvement processes that support and develop teaching practice

Qualifications
- An appropriate teaching qualification for the Post-16 sector (e.g. DET, Cert. Ed. or equivalent) or willingness to complete a Level 4 qualification within the first year of appointment
- A qualification in the subject specialism to at least Level 4 (e.g. HND, First Degree) or in-depth knowledge with a minimum of 3 years’ substantial experience in the subject area
- Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications in English and Mathematics
