About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care nationally. The Trust is home to leading facilities including the largest dental school in Europe, a £160 million Cancer Centre, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and one of the largest critical care units in the UK. In 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined the Trust, creating a world-renowned heart and lung centre.

The British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BSBMTCT) is seeking a 0.8 WTE Chief Executive for an initial 18-month period to lead the Society and its national data registry. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the clinical community and improve outcomes for patients with leukaemia, lymphoma, aplastic anaemia, and immune deficiency disorders.

BSBMTCT is a patient-focused, inclusive, and collaborative professional society dedicated to advancing blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. The Chief Executive will provide strategic leadership, operational management, and governance oversight, ensuring the Society’s functions support NHS commissioning, research, clinical standards, policy development, and patient outcomes across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, the role offers NHS employment benefits while directly contributing to improving patient survival and quality of life. The Chief Executive will work closely with the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, member centres, and partners to grow and develop the Society into a strong, sustainable, and respected organisation.
