About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, and politically aware individual to join the Leader’s Office at Merton Council as a Cabinet Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity following the re-election of the current administration with an increased majority in May 2026. In this key role, you will support the Leader of the Council, Cabinet Members, and the wider Labour Group to deliver the administration’s ambitions to make Merton a cleaner, greener, safer, and more affordable place to live and work.

Working under the Cabinet Manager, you will provide direct policy, research, and administrative support to Cabinet Members, enabling them to carry out their duties effectively and deliver the administration’s priorities. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment on a diverse range of important policy agendas and service issues, including social care, education, town centre improvements, financial support for families, and opportunities for residents to engage in the borough’s sporting activities.

Merton Council offers excellent holiday entitlement, a competitive salary, and enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme. We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds.
