About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Quantity Surveyor to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) team, supporting the M25 London Orbital Motorway project. CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25—Europe’s busiest motorway. Delivering over £100m of annual investment alongside planned and reactive maintenance, this is a complex and high-profile network requiring robust and efficient planning.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will have several years’ experience in measurement and valuation of civil engineering work and reconciling to costs. You will support senior commercial team members in delivering varied commercial duties and be responsible for procuring and administrating supply chain agreements. You will actively seek to minimise project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining required standards and quality.

Specifically, you will be valuing Damage to Crown Property (DCP) claims—identifying applicable costs for all aspects of the work, liaising with other Commercial QSs to obtain costs, and challenging any overstatements or unreasonable sums. You will deep dive into each individual repair to understand and record events. Valuation of DCP claims is vital for forecasting expected repair costs and contributing to monthly Work in Progress reports.

Key responsibilities include:
- Adhering to company governance including GMCEs and BMS
- Analytical thinking and decision making with systematic data checks
- Measuring, recording and valuing work unsupervised according to procedures
- Estimating from specifications, records and drawings, preparing Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates and DCP claim valuations
- Time management to meet deadlines for cost capture
- Liaising with planning teams to capture repair facets and forecast values
- Measuring and capturing future cost increases ensuring current and reasonable rates
- Collating cost and value information
- Customer and stakeholder management within your area of responsibility
- Engaging with insurance claims, seeking solutions and supporting claim values
- Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors
- Maintaining a Personal Development Plan and supporting the development of others

Experience
Several years’ experience in measurement and valuation of civil engineering work, reconciling costs, and commercial duties. Previous commercial work experience and highways industry knowledge are desirable.

Qualifications
