About the Role
As a global law firm, Clifford Chance operates across jurisdictions, cultures, and languages with a collaborative and inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives. The Client and Legal Knowledge Engineer role is part of the Client and Legal Knowledge team, supporting the evolution of the firm’s knowledge function in an AI-enabled environment. This role transforms legal knowledge, client insight, and expert information into structured, governed, and reusable knowledge assets that enhance discovery, application, and continuous improvement across the firm.
The role involves working across the Client and Legal Knowledge portfolio to identify and support practical use cases that improve how trusted knowledge is captured, structured, searched, navigated, and reused. Responsibilities include supporting knowledge products, platforms, enterprise search, intranet journeys, guided content experiences, taxonomy, content operations, adoption, and AI-enabled knowledge initiatives.
This position combines legal knowledge management, client knowledge, content architecture, product thinking, and responsible use of emerging technologies to improve consistency, reuse, productivity, and client service while maintaining governance and confidentiality controls.
You will collaborate with Knowledge Lawyers, client knowledge colleagues, fee earners, practice-facing knowledge teams, Product Managers, IT, Innovation, Risk, Compliance, and other business services to ensure knowledge solutions are practical, secure, governed, and aligned with the firm’s broader knowledge and technology strategy.
Key responsibilities include designing knowledge models and metadata approaches, supporting AI-enabled knowledge solutions, improving knowledge search, taxonomy, and discoverability, and driving adoption of knowledge use cases across the portfolio. You will also help build the bridge between legal knowledge and technology by mapping workflows, creating prototypes, defining system integration requirements, and strengthening knowledge foundations for AI.
The role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to delivery, balancing strategic thinking with practical execution, and working collaboratively across the team to support shared priorities and portfolio-wide outcomes.
Clifford Chance offers a broad range of benefits supporting personal and professional life, including financial, wellbeing, lifestyle, and family-friendly benefits. From day one, you will have opportunities for formal training, coaching, mentoring, technical training, and on-the-job learning.
