About the Role
Join the London Borough of Newham as a Community Nursery Nurse within the Children’s Health 0-19 Service, part of the Health Visiting Service. You will work as part of a skilled mix team delivering the refreshed Health Visiting model aligned with the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 years (HCP), collaborating with multi-professionals across the Early Help Neighbourhood.
Your role will include providing essential observation skills for children and families in their homes, children’s centres, health centres, GP surgeries, and nursery schools. You will work in partnership with the school health service to support the smooth transition of rising 5s.
You will proactively establish and facilitate effective Prevention and Early Intervention groups and deliver health promotion activities tailored to the culturally diverse community based on locally identified needs through caseload profiling.
Key responsibilities include carrying out assessments for mandated elements of the Healthy Child Programme (0-5 and 5-19 years) to empower families and support public health priorities, providing safeguarding knowledge and skills, and highlighting any concerns in line with Newham and London Safeguarding Protocols.
You will assist health visitors in facilitating healthy child advisory clinics, lead on 2-2.5 year reviews using the national Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) tool, and deliver the six high impact areas in partnership with health visitors and children’s centres.
Collaboration with Nursery Nurses within school health teams is essential to strengthen the integrated 0-19 years delivery model in accordance with the Children Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government 2006).
The service is committed to improving the lives of children and young people in Newham, a diverse borough with a young population undergoing significant regeneration. The Children’s Health 0-19 service was rated Good in all areas following its 2021 CQC inspection.
