About the Role
This post is for a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in shoulder and elbow surgery to support the growing demand within our department. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the orthopaedic and trauma team, delivering multidisciplinary care to the local South East London population as well as patients from our tertiary referral network. The post holder will join the shoulder and elbow service, which currently consists of three consultants, and the trauma service comprising ten consultants.
At the St Thomas site, the consultant will collaborate with the Orthopaedic Trauma Team to provide acute fracture care through virtual consultations, face-to-face clinics, and trauma operating. At the Guys site, responsibilities include delivering elective arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, arthroscopic repairs, stabilisation procedures, and fracture fixations. Additionally, the consultant will work alongside colleagues from hospitals across South London to develop regional hubs, enhancing service delivery and patient outcomes.
Experience
Proven experience as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus on shoulder and elbow surgery is essential. Experience in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures is required.

Qualifications
Full GMC registration with a license to practice and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Subspecialty training or demonstrable expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery is required.
