About the Role
The Dental Engineering Maintenance Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of dental equipment. This includes carrying out routine servicing, safety checks, basic calibration tasks and first-line diagnostics under the supervision of the Specialist Dental Equipment Engineer. The post holder will help ensure equipment operates safely and reliably, identify faults or deterioration, and take timely action to support uninterrupted clinical activity. The role involves supporting maintenance arrangements for specific equipment types, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with performance verification, acceptance testing and commissioning activities. The post holder will work closely with dental clinical teams and external contractors to ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues, maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships. Additionally, the role contributes to equipment-related projects, audits, service improvement activities and the upkeep of workshop areas, tools and spare parts. Responsibilities may also include assisting with medical device alerts, documentation updates and routine asset verification. The post holder will follow Trust policies, regulatory standards, health and safety procedures and infection control requirements at all times. This role is essential in ensuring safe engineering practice, supporting patient care and maintaining high levels of equipment availability across Dental Services.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in maintenance and servicing of technical or medical equipment is desirable. Ability to carry out routine servicing, safety checks, calibration and first-line diagnostics under supervision.

Able to work flexibly to meet the demands of a busy clinical environment. Committed to following health and safety, infection control and regulatory standards. Strong organisational skills to maintain accurate records and support service improvement activities.

Qualifications
Relevant technical or engineering qualifications are preferred. Willingness to learn and develop skills in dental equipment maintenance under supervision is essential.
