About the Role
We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior medical cover at Cygnet Hospital Harrow, specifically on Spring Wing and Spring Court, our 14-bed services for men with mental health needs and a diagnosis of autism. The post holder will act as the Responsible Clinician, overseeing and maintaining the care of all ward inpatients and auditing medical services to ensure quality in line with GMC standards and other professional guidelines.

The role involves leading a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to deliver holistic, person-centred assessments and care plans that support individuals to progress towards supported living, community placements, or returning home. You will work alongside a Specialty Doctor and a first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

Key responsibilities include leading high-quality care provision, conducting assessments, mental state examinations, investigations, diagnosis, treatment, ward rounds, patient reviews, clinical audits, and embedding clinical governance and risk management within the service. You will also supervise Mental Health Act tribunal reports, liaise with the Ministry of Justice, maintain patient records, and communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and management.

Experience
Experienced and knowledgeable in Learning Disabilities and mental health diagnosis.
Familiarity with the Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Code of Capacity.
Proven ability to lead and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience in clinical governance, risk assessment, and management.
Commitment to continued professional development.

Qualifications
Fully GMC registered with MBBS or equivalent qualification.
Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and Approved Clinician (AC) status.
Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references required prior to employment.
