About the Role
The AI & Automation team at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is transforming how the organisation operates through Artificial Intelligence, Automation and Intelligent Engineering. We build enterprise-scale AI capabilities that improve service resilience, automate workflows, accelerate engineering productivity and enhance customer outcomes. As a Core AI Engineer, you will play a leading technical role in designing, developing and deploying AI solutions across LSEG. This hands-on role combines software engineering, machine learning and AI platform expertise to deliver production-ready AI products that generate measurable business value. You will design and build scalable AI systems, solve complex technical challenges and influence enterprise AI adoption.

Key responsibilities include designing and deploying enterprise-grade AI products and services such as agentic AI workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions and intelligent automation capabilities. You will deliver scalable integrations with large language models (LLMs), vector databases, MCP services and enterprise platforms, while developing reusable AI frameworks and engineering standards. You will lead technical implementation across multiple AI initiatives, define solution architecture, build robust APIs and automation pipelines, and ensure security, scalability, resilience and observability.

Partnering with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Engineering teams, you will support AI platform development, establish monitoring and governance processes, and improve reliability and performance of AI capabilities. As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers, evaluate emerging AI technologies, provide technical direction and guide outcomes while remaining hands-on. You will translate business challenges into scalable AI solutions with measurable KPIs, driving productivity, operational resilience and customer value in collaboration with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations and Product organisations.

Experience
- Extensive software engineering experience delivering production-scale AI or machine learning solutions in enterprise environments
- Proven track record of moving AI solutions from proof-of-concept to production
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering standards and operational practices
- Experience with Python, Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, agent frameworks, orchestration technologies, RAG architectures, API development, microservices, cloud-native development (Azure preferred), CI/CD automation, MLOps, vector databases, data modelling and distributed systems
- Knowledge of AI observability, evaluation and governance frameworks

Qualifications
- Experience within Financial Services or regulated environments is desirable
- Knowledge of Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles is advantageous
- Experience developing AI-powered operational tooling and internal AI platforms or developer enablement capabilities is a plus
- Familiarity with Microsoft AI ecosystem, Copilot technologies and Azure AI services is beneficial
