About the Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Assurance Auditor to join our outstanding Major Projects team working on the Old Oak Common development in London – the largest construction project in the UK. HS2's new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture is responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the station will feature six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. It will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, the North, and direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will deliver an exceptional customer experience for passengers and visitors alike.

In this role, you will support the compilation of the Audit Scope, arrange initial meetings with Subcontractors and the Commercial team to approve the scope and timetable of audits. You will request and follow up on information such as Purchase Orders, Invoices, proof of payments, and other relevant documents from Subcontractors to facilitate audits and ensure contract adherence. You will analyse large volumes of data, verify costs in line with the schedule of cost components aligned to the NEC contract, and highlight discrepancies or potential disallowed elements. A full understanding of the contract and associated risks is essential.

You will assist the Cost Verification Manager in implementing and validating cost assurance controls, conduct cost verification deep dives and internal audits across all work packages, and provide recommendations to mitigate disallowed risks. The role involves visiting external Subcontractor offices to audit Staff and Labour, reviewing payroll reports against the Schedule of Cost Components, and performing sample testing on CVs, qualifications, rights to work, and timesheets. Additionally, you will review company policies on Modern Slavery, Anti-Bribery, and expenses to ensure compliance.
