About the Role
As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that ensures our datacenters operate seamlessly. Your role will involve coordinating with suppliers and vendors, collaborating with management to address operational, risk, and safety issues, mentoring fellow technicians, and performing hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of critical environment equipment. You will respond to onsite incidents, lead incident response teams, and use telemetry and monitoring platforms to oversee equipment performance.

Microsoft’s CO+I team powers core infrastructure for services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. With a global portfolio of over 200 datacenters across 32 countries, this role is vital in supporting services used by over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. Requirements

Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND mission critical services work or applied learning experience in high availability assembly, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure environments such as datacenters, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries. Experience in a specialized area such as mechanical, electrical, or controls fields is required.

Preferred experience includes extensive mission critical services background or relevant technical trade certifications or higher education combined with extensive mission critical services experience.

About you
You are a proactive and skilled technician with a hands-on understanding of critical environment equipment and systems. You are capable of independently troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems. You follow and promote safety and security protocols, including job hazard assessments, environmental health and safety standards, and business procedures. You are able to lead onsite incident response teams and provide guidance to junior colleagues. Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Mission critical services experience or equivalent technical education.
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check and meet security screening requirements.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality in all work performed.
