About the Role
This is a frontline customer service role within the London Borough of Sutton Cultural Services, which includes Libraries and Heritage. You will serve the public, handle cash transactions, answer basic enquiries, and carry out routine library duties such as shelving and tidying. The role involves checking and validating records using various databases and systems to ensure accuracy of customer and service management information. You will provide information on Council services and operate the library management ICT system, requiring specialist training. Confidence in using IT is essential, both for your own work and to assist customers with equipment and software such as scanners, printers, apps, social media, and email setup.
The role requires multitasking and working under pressure during busy periods. It is not a traditional customer service role; no two days are the same. You will work closely with a diverse range of customers and volunteers, delivering day-to-day library services and acting as an ambassador for excellent customer care. You will also help deliver events and activities that increase visits and issues.
