About the Role
As a Social Worker within the Children and Young People's Disability Service (CYPDS), you will manage a caseload of children on child-in-need plans, child protection plans, and some who may be looked after and subject to PLO or care proceedings. Your responsibilities include undertaking all statutory tasks associated with children under relevant frameworks, working closely with colleagues in Health and Education Services, and leading on the creation of short breaks support packages. You will have opportunities to develop skills in supporting young people preparing for adulthood, transitioning to adult services, and conducting parent carer needs assessments.

The service is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and promoting robust preparation for adulthood. It has a strong learning culture with many training opportunities and supportive management offering regular supervision and restorative group supervisions.

Social Workers on selected pay grades are eligible for a Welcome and Retention Bonus scheme, including payments in the first month, after the first and second years, and annually thereafter, plus reimbursement of Social Work England registration fees.

Sutton is a vibrant borough with excellent transport links to Central London, award-winning parks, low crime rates, affordable housing, and great schools. The Council is committed to investing in the health, wellbeing, and education of residents and is part of a strategic partnership focused on growth and regeneration.

We encourage applications from Social Workers with significant experience supporting children with disabilities as well as those from other statutory frontline children’s services. The role offers flexible working arrangements including hybrid working to meet service needs while supporting work-life balance.

Please note that Social Workers may be required to travel outside the Borough to visit clients as part of their caseload. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
