About the Role
The Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) is responsible for the provision of the UK’s nuclear deterrent, including submarines and nuclear warheads, while advising on nuclear planning and fostering international cooperation. The DNO is part of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE), working alongside the Royal Navy, Submarine Delivery Agency, and Atomic Weapons Establishment. The Security and Intelligence Division’s mission is to ensure the DNE remains secure and assured now and in the future. In this role, you will lead a cross-DNE programme focused on identifying and enhancing the resilience of critical systems and infrastructure, homeland defence, defence readiness, and emergency preparedness, planning, response, and recovery.

This role offers hybrid and flexible working options, with regular workplace attendance required due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting line manager before applying.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team to refresh and maintain understanding of critical infrastructure and systems across the DNE and wider critical national infrastructure (CNI).
- Deliver a cross-DNE approach to identifying, assessing, and managing resilience risks, considering the full range of National Security Risk Assessment (NSRA) threats.
- Lead policy, guidance, and support for resilience risk assessment and mitigation.
- Manage DNE input into cross-Ministry of Defence (MOD) and government defence readiness and homeland defence planning.
- Review and lead cross-DNE incident and emergency planning, preparedness, response, and recovery mechanisms.
- Oversee delivery, testing, and maintenance of emergency and incident plans and operational structures.
- Take a leadership role during incidents, mobilising relevant specialists and experts.
- Lead wider resilience, risk, and security projects as required.

Experience
- Demonstrable expertise in resilience planning and/or policy.
- Experience in critical asset, infrastructure, or system risk mapping or management.
- Expertise in emergency and contingency planning, response, and/or recovery.
- Strong team leadership and management experience, including in high-pressure situations.
- Experience in policy design, development, and implementation.
- Proven ability in cross-government and cross-sector stakeholder management, leadership, and engagement.

Desirable Skills
- Experience in risk, resilience, or emergency preparedness, response, or recovery within chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear environments in civil, defence, or public sectors.
