About the Role
The Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) is responsible for the provision of the UK’s nuclear deterrent, including submarines and nuclear warheads, while advising on nuclear planning and fostering international cooperation. The DNO comprises a multidisciplinary team of over 700 professionals working alongside the Royal Navy, the Submarine Delivery Agency, and the Atomic Weapons Establishment as part of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE).
As part of the DNO Corporate Operations Deputy Directorate, you will join the DNO Workplace team within Corporate Services. This team delivers and maintains secure, safe, resilient, and fit-for-purpose working environments across the DNO estate, supporting the effective operation of the DNE. The team is also leading a major transformation programme to create a modern, integrated workplace that enhances collaboration, productivity, and employee experience.
In the role of Project Security Officer, you will play a key role in embedding security into this transformation programme. You will influence projects from inception, ensuring security is integrated early in design and decision-making processes. This role offers the opportunity to shape infrastructure, working environments, and operational methods across a complex, multi-site estate.
You will apply your security expertise throughout project lifecycles, providing clear and pragmatic advice to ensure solutions meet required standards while remaining deliverable. You will address a broad range of security considerations including information handling, zoning, and secure operating environments.
Collaboration with DNO PSyA, Establishment Security teams, and wider stakeholders is essential to deliver a coherent and proportionate security approach. Your input will enable the safe and effective delivery of critical workplace projects supporting the DNO mission.
This role requires regular workplace attendance due to security constraints, though hybrid and flexible working options may be considered. Candidates are encouraged to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager prior to applying.
