The finishing department is a key section of our production facility, ensuring that customers’ campaign and event products arrive finished, trimmed and ready for installation or use. As Deputy Manager of the Finishing Unit, you will be responsible for finishing and collating printed or supplied products according to job bag and campaign specifications. You will work as part of a finishing team handling multiple material types, large and small format items, and 3D structures using a variety of finishing machinery.
Together with the Finishing Unit Manager, you will manage the finishing department and its team members, ensuring quality standards are met consistently. You will work closely with production management and other teams across the business to ensure all projects are produced and delivered to meet and exceed client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within a busy and challenging department to complete daily tasks and follow campaign and event finishing requirements
- Report to the Finishing Unit Manager and collaborate with the team to achieve daily objectives to a high standard
- Follow online work schedules and adhere to health & safety rules and procedures
- Communicate effectively and professionally across teams and departments
- In the absence of the Finishing Unit Manager, set and manage team workloads across production tasks and shifts, including weekend working needs
- Schedule projects and finishing requirements using internal MI System (training provided)
- Understand risk and escalation processes to manage and avoid issues
- Operate and maintain a clean, efficient, and productive finishing department
Finishing Duties Include:
- Operating Zund cutting tables for cutting, kiss cutting, routing, etc.
- Laminating using heated rollers and roll rollers
- Hand finishing such as vinyl wrap mounting and weeding
- Eyelets and hemming for banners and textiles
- Various manual finishing operations including gluing, assembly, and taping
Experience
- Planning and organising skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving environment
- Experience in planning and scheduling large format graphics production
- Experience with print and finishing production techniques for large format graphics
- Competency in Microsoft Office packages and good overall computer skills (training provided for MIS system)
