Detached Youth Worker


Location
Primarily based in Lewisham borough, South East London. Work takes place on the street and in other public places. A hybrid working approach is in place with occasional office and home working.
Hours
Part Time - 18 hours per week, including weekend working
Salary
£32,384.00 to £33,384.00 per annum (SC4) pro rata. All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

Join Lewisham’s dynamic Youth Service team as a Detached Youth Worker, engaging with young people in public spaces, estates, parks, and town centres. You will build trusted relationships, provide guidance, and support young people to access services and opportunities in their community. Your role involves understanding and responding to young people’s needs and interests, helping them get involved, stay safe, and make the most of opportunities. You will also contribute to monitoring, evaluating progress, and developing the service. Experience
Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings, including detached youth work.
About you
Enjoy being out and about, able to initiate conversations and engage with young people. Able to identify opportunities to signpost young people to relevant services and activities. A team player with knowledge of contextual safeguarding.
Qualifications
Relevant Level 3 Youth and Community (JNC) qualification is required.
Additional Requirements
Weekend working is required.
The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
