Plumber


Location
South East London, primarily within the Borough of Lewisham. Occasional travel outside the borough may be required.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Flexibility required to participate in out-of-hours rota if needed.
Salary
£42,912 - £44,235 per annum (SO2). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.
About the Role
Join Lewisham Council as a skilled and qualified plumber delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across the borough's housing stock. You will carry out plumbing repairs including fixing taps, wastes, clearing blockages, overhauling cisterns, and detecting leaks, particularly in blocks of flats. The role also involves related tasks such as removing and refitting kitchen units, wall and floor tiling, skirting, and panelling, ensuring all work is safe, tidy, and meets required standards.
You will work independently and safely, managing your own van, stock, and tools, while maintaining accurate records and reports. Providing excellent customer care is essential, as you will communicate clearly and courteously with residents, supervisors, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. You will represent the Council professionally at all times, adhering to health and safety policies, wearing the Council uniform, and carrying your ID.

Experience
Proven experience as a qualified plumber, preferably with experience in social housing or a similar environment. Ability to fault-find, problem-solve, and complete a broad range of plumbing repairs and maintenance to a high standard.

Qualifications
Fully qualified plumber with City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Full UK driving licence is essential. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills are required to maintain accurate records and complete reports.
