About the Role
Support Brent Council’s goal of reducing digital inequality and empowering all residents to participate fully in modern life. Brent is a vibrant London borough known for its diversity and contrasts, spanning inner and outer London with a rich cultural heritage. The council is undergoing a significant transformation to better meet community needs, making this an exciting time to join the team.

This role within the Digital Transformation team will lead a suite of projects focused on tackling digital exclusion across Brent. You will play a key role in ensuring residents have fair and equal access to digital tools, skills, and opportunities. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering digital inclusion initiatives that help residents gain essential digital skills, from basic device use to navigating online services
- Line managing a Digital Project Support Officer, providing clear direction and fostering a positive team culture
- Supporting vulnerable and digitally excluded groups such as older adults, low income households, and people with disabilities
- Building partnerships with libraries, community centres, charities, schools, and local businesses to expand digital support networks
- Improving access to devices and connectivity through schemes providing loaned devices, affordable broadband, or public Wi-Fi access points
- Promoting digital confidence and safety by educating residents on online safety, privacy, and secure use of digital services
- Monitoring impact and reporting outcomes by collecting data, evaluating programme effectiveness, and sharing progress with internal and external stakeholders

The overarching aim is to reduce digital inequality, empower residents to fully participate in modern life, and support the Council’s broader goals around inclusion, economic development, and access to public services.

If you are ready to lead with purpose, inspire collaboration, and make a lasting difference in the lives of Brent’s diverse communities, this is your opportunity to join a fast-moving service where your passion and expertise will be valued.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in managing digital projects, preferably with a focus on digital inclusion or community engagement. Experience working with diverse and vulnerable groups is highly desirable. Strong partnership-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders are essential.

About you
You will have a strategic mindset combined with a deep commitment to social equity. You understand that digital exclusion involves confidence, access, literacy, and socioeconomic barriers. You are empathetic, patient, and motivated to improve outcomes for often overlooked residents. You approach challenges with curiosity and are comfortable working in communities where trust must be earned.

You are both analytical and hands-on, confident interpreting data to identify gaps and measure impact, while translating insights into practical programmes. You communicate clearly and warmly, adapting your style for senior leaders and residents with limited digital confidence.

You are resilient, adaptable, and collaborative, thriving in complex and resource-constrained environments. You are solution-focused and pragmatic without losing sight of long-term ambitions. You succeed through influence rather than authority and champion digital inclusion as a shared responsibility. You bring leadership, humility, and creativity to inspire others and design initiatives that meet people where they are.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in project management, digital inclusion, community development, or related fields are desirable but not mandatory. A commitment to continuous learning and development is essential.
