About the Service and Team
The Assistant Director of Assets and the Head of Building Safety and Compliance report to the Director of Asset Investment and Sustainability. Together they lead distinct teams: Asset delivery (Asset Lead, Pre Construction Lead, Project Managers, Work Surveyors, Clerk of Works, Resident Liaison Officers) and Compliance (Manager, Engineers, Compliance Officers). SHP’s strength lies in the knowledge, experience, and commitment of our colleagues to deliver excellent services to residents. As a landlord organisation, this means enabling families and households to be safe in their homes, sustain their tenancy, and lead healthy and rewarding lives.
About the Role
As the Director of Asset Investment and Sustainability, you will work at a senior level with the Executive Management Team and the Board on all strategic and operational aspects of assets and sustainability, including best practice and new initiatives. You must have rigorous and up-to-date knowledge of all legal and building safety requirements for property assets, fire safety, and building compliance regulations, with practical experience applying these successfully. A strong understanding of new and emerging sustainability technologies is essential to develop and implement the SHDP strategy for new build homes and remodel existing stock. Experience in partnership working and expertise in planning approaches for a diverse property portfolio are important. Excellent people, negotiation, and advocacy skills with a collaborative style that aligns with SHP’s values are required. SHP maintains a unique and strong partnership with the London Borough of Sutton to ensure compliance with the big six and to work collaboratively for residents.

Experience
Proven senior-level experience in managing asset investment and sustainability within a housing or property management environment. Practical experience in applying legal and building safety requirements, fire safety, and building compliance regulations. Experience of partnership working and planning for diverse property portfolios.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level. Must hold or be willing to work towards CIH Level 4 qualification in Managing Housing Maintenance or CIH Level 5.
