About the Role
As part of our commitment to improving services for vulnerable children and young people, the London Borough of Bexley operates a multidisciplinary Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service (EISAS). This service works closely with schools to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Additional Educational Needs (AEN), as well as providing support and training to school SENCOS and other staff. The Early Intervention team, part of EISAS, comprises professionals from various educational disciplines including Educational Psychologists, Social Emotional and Mental Health Advisory Teachers, Early Intervention Team Social Workers, SEN Strategic Support Partners, and AEN/SEN Support Partners. Staff collaborate closely with schools and also undertake relevant work outside school settings.
The focus of the teams is on early intervention to support SEND, aiming to provide timely assistance to education settings, children, young people, and their families to achieve successful educational and social outcomes. Early support helps address needs promptly and reduces the demand for higher level services over time.
Following recent Education and SEND reforms, we are expanding capacity within the management team to ensure effective implementation. We are seeking two experienced candidates to join an established and successful team to work collaboratively on this important journey.
This is a fixed-term role for 2 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage two professional teams within the service that support schools in Bexley, including organising team meetings, day-to-day staff management, and performance management.
- Organise and attend termly planning meetings with schools to allocate work appropriately and ensure accurate minutes are taken and distributed.
- Act in an advisory capacity to schools.
- Liaise closely with team members to plan interventions coherently and prevent the need for higher threshold services related to learning and inclusion.
- Support the implementation of Education and SEND reforms.
- Assist the Head of Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service with tasks such as coordinating Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with schools, data collection and analysis, and other organisational duties.
If you have the relevant skills and experience and are passionate about working in partnership with schools to enable children with SEN to achieve better outcomes, we encourage you to apply.
