About the Role
Join the Lewisham Virtual School and Educational Psychology Team to make a meaningful difference for some of the most vulnerable children and young people, including Children Looked After (CLA) and those with a social worker. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop specialised expertise in supporting children affected by developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Working under the guidance of a Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist, you will engage in complex casework, trauma-informed assessments, and contribute to innovative, multi-agency practice across the borough.

You will provide intensive support to children and young people, deliver psychologically informed consultations to carers, teachers, social workers, and other professionals, and help drive systemic change to improve outcomes for vulnerable children. A key part of your role will be contributing to the Virtual School’s therapeutic offer and helping create relationally safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environments where all children can thrive academically and emotionally.

The role involves close collaboration with social workers, CAMHS practitioners, specialist teachers, designated teachers, foster carers, residential staff, and families. You will also help develop and deliver training to schools to promote relational, restorative, and trauma-informed approaches.

Lewisham is proud of its diversity and commitment to inclusive practice, recognised as the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary. The Virtual School is an award-winning, dynamic team dedicated to high aspirations and educational success for vulnerable children.
