About the Role
Merton is expanding its Educational Psychology Service with both permanent and fixed-term vacancies. We are progressing with the SEND Reforms and Merton’s SEND transformation, including the development of our Experts at Hand model which pilots, delivers, and evaluates early and responsive psychological support, including preventative and systemic work.

The Educational Psychology Service is part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Integrated Service (SENDIS), alongside Speech and Language Therapy, Sensory Service, Occupational Therapy, and Merton SEND Support and Inclusion Service. This integration encourages innovative and collaborative work across specialisms.

Our team is friendly and collaborative, welcoming new colleagues with strong support. We are well-regarded within the Local Authority, demonstrated by high buy-back levels from schools and other services. The service is a learning organisation with senior leadership supporting professional development goals. There is a strong focus on EP wellbeing through group supervision sessions and whole team CPD and reflective spaces.

Despite high demand for statutory work, this constitutes no more than a third of allocated work, allowing flexibility to apply psychology creatively. Our consultation-led model receives positive feedback for its innovative approaches with children, partners, and the community.

Appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade, except where matching current salary (up to the scale maximum) is evidenced.

Experience
Experience working within educational psychology or related settings is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively across multi-agency teams and deliver consultation-led psychological support.

Qualifications
Doctorate or master’s qualification in Educational Psychology.
Evidence of HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
