About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark rail engineering projects across the UK and overseas, contributing to a diverse portfolio within our expanding Rail Engineering Services team. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead, direct, and coordinate multi-disciplinary technical teams, supporting the resolution of complex technical challenges. You will manage client and stakeholder relationships to achieve project outcomes, set a strong health, safety and welfare culture, and lead the development and management of client requirements and assurance outputs. Your role will include design coordination activities such as integrated design reviews and promoting digitalisation to aid delivery. Working alongside Project and Design Managers, you will ensure the technical delivery of rail projects and provide guidance, support, and mentorship to aspiring engineering managers. You will be part of a talented and diverse team delivering multi-disciplinary projects from early concept through detailed design and supporting delivery contractors on site, while mentoring others and providing technical excellence to clients.

Experience
- Proven track record of successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects as an Engineering Manager
- Engineering specialism and experience in railway engineering design
- Strong experience in at least one area of the full project lifecycle from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation
- Understanding of CSM, CDM and other health and safety regulations, with application of “safe by design” techniques
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and teams, balancing priorities and making value and delivery decisions to meet or exceed client expectations
- Technical knowledge to challenge project teams on outputs and deliverables
- Experience in roles with specific engineering responsibilities such as CEM, CRE, DPE or PE
- Chartered or incorporated registration with a relevant professional engineering institution
- Understanding of client engineering assurance processes and railway standards

Qualifications
- Chartered or incorporated engineer status with a relevant professional engineering institution is essential
