About the Role
Working as a key member of the Passenger Requiring Support (PRS) Team, the Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing and operational readiness of specialist mobility equipment, including but not limited to Staxi wheelchairs, iCaddy units, Moby chairs and aisle chairs. The role ensures all equipment is safe, compliant, clean and fully operational, supporting passengers with reduced mobility throughout their airport journey. The post holder will take ownership of equipment performance, reliability and availability, contributing to operational efficiency, safety and continuous improvement across the PRS service.

Key responsibilities include carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs in line with company procedures and manufacturer guidelines; diagnosing faults and recurring issues, taking appropriate corrective action or escalating where required; ensuring all PRS equipment meets safety, compliance and operational standards before being returned to service; conducting daily equipment checks and maintaining accurate maintenance and inspection records; removing defective or unsafe equipment from operation and ensuring timely resolution; maintaining asset registers and tracking equipment location, condition and usage; liaising with suppliers and specialist contractors for repairs and parts where appropriate; supporting operational teams by ensuring equipment is available, correctly distributed and ready for use; supporting implementation of any asset tracking equipment being introduced; conducting routine inspections to verify equipment is clean, hygienic and fit for purpose; providing guidance to operational colleagues on correct equipment usage and basic handling practices; supporting the planning and delivery of maintenance schedules to minimise disruption to operations; liaising with operational leads regarding planned maintenance and progress; contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, safety and efficiency; and supporting internal and client audits to ensure full compliance and accurate documentation.

Health and Safety Responsibilities
Follow all health and safety procedures, policies and safe systems of work; ensure all equipment is safe and compliant before returning to service; always apply correct manual handling techniques; maintain safe working environments across all operational areas; identify and report hazards, risks or unsafe practices; act as a role model for safe working behaviours.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to company and client policies; participate in training and development; support audits and inspections; carry out reasonable management requests.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in a maintenance, engineering or technical support role is desirable.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve faults.
Experience managing equipment, assets or inventory in an operational environment.
Good communication skills, with the ability to engage with operational teams and stakeholders.
Basic IT skills for record keeping and reporting.
