About the Role
Founded in 2011, the South London Legal Partnership (SLLP) is the in-house legal service for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton and Wandsworth. SLLP is committed to being a high performing shared legal service that supports the priorities and objectives of its five local authorities for the benefit of their communities. The partnership employs 150-160 staff with a turnover of £14 million, representing over 1 million people across the constituent councils. Operating at scale enables SLLP to recruit and retain excellent staff and provide a consistently high standard of service.
The Adult Social Care team and Education team form a busy subgroup within the Social Care team. This exciting opportunity is for an Expert Practitioner Lawyer to join the Adults Social Care team, demonstrating strong knowledge and experience of relevant legislation covering adult social care, mental health, and specifically the jurisdiction of the Court of Protection for all five Borough Authorities served by SLLP. You will advise on a variety of matters relating to adult social care and mental health, managing your own caseload of Court of Protection matters.
We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic applicants eager to develop their skills in a public sector environment, able to work flexibly and collaboratively within a high-pressure team. In return, you will be supported to develop your skills in a nurturing environment. Previous local government experience is not essential; determination to provide a top-class legal service is what matters most.
SLLP’s vision and values include a commitment to improving services through staff development in an inclusive and supportive environment. We aim to attract and retain a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve. If you share these values and possess the skills and experience required, we encourage you to apply.
