About the Role
In your role as Financial Reporting Manager, you will manage the timely preparation of concession financial reporting to Balfour Beatty Group, including actual results, budgets, forecasts, half year and year end group reporting. You will provide technical accounting support to Central and Concession Finance for both new business and existing concession projects. As a line manager, you will support, motivate and inspire the development of your team members.
Your key responsibilities will include managing concession reporting on monthly, quarterly and half year/full year cycles, which involves:
- Monthly actual reporting of concession results by set deadlines, including variance analysis with commentary and submission in HFM (including review of external MSA provider management accounts where applicable)
- Preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets with variance analysis and commentary for review
- Half year and full year reporting in line with strict Balfour Beatty Group deadlines, including detailed HFM submission
- Contributing to presentation material for executive management and BB Group review
- Providing effective accounting support to new business development projects through identification and documentation of key accounting issues and collaboration with the wider team
- Preparing regular and ad hoc financial reports and analysis
- Coordinating and preparing backup schedules to support external auditors during financial audits
- Updating financial models and applying accounting overlays
- Leading Central Finance’s provision of information to Project Finance for Directors’ Valuations of Concessions and supporting impairment/accounting adjustment calculations thereafter
- Managing direct reports including task planning, providing regular performance feedback and maintaining engagement, especially considering remote working challenges.

Experience
- Qualified accountant with significant experience
- Experience of complex technical accounting including consolidation
- Up to date with accounting issues and requirements (FRS101/102 and IFRS)
- Strong Excel and Word skills

- Qualified to degree level (minimum 2.1)
- Intellectual curiosity and high level of initiative
- Flexibility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Effective communicator, both orally and in writing
- Ability to complete priority tasks to a high standard on schedule
