About the Role
Are you an experienced, motivated, high-performing clinician looking to develop, learn, and grow while achieving a better work-life balance? This role offers a different way to use your clinical skills without stepping away from your profession. As a Functional Assessor with Ingeus, you will carry out functional assessments with claimants face to face, via video and telephone, to assess their ability to undertake activities of daily living. You will ask focused questions, use active listening and critical reasoning skills to gather accurate information, and produce high-quality, structured clinical reports for submission to the DWP. You will review and evaluate evidence, request additional information when needed, and clinically triage cases to determine the correct assessment pathway. Working alongside experienced clinical colleagues, you will ensure high-quality and fair assessments for all claimants. The role offers predictable hours, hybrid working (minimum 3 days at your local assessment centre), paid CPD, reimbursed registration fees, a structured training programme to achieve formal DWP accreditation, clear career progression routes within Ingeus and the wider APM Group, and a supportive, clinically led culture. There is also a refer-a-friend reward scheme of up to £2,000.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 12 months post-qualification and registration experience. Must have been practicing as a clinician in the UK within the last 12 months.

About you
Registered with NMC as an Adult Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD) or registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Paramedic. Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills. Confident in typing and using computers. Open to a formalised training programme to become a DWP approved Functional Assessor. Receptive to ongoing constructive feedback to ensure the best claimant experience. Comfortable learning different software packages to complete detailed, high-quality reports. Thrives in a structured working environment and is looking to use clinical skills in a different way.

Qualifications
Current professional registration with NMC or HCPC as applicable.

Additional Information
This role may not be suitable if you are uncomfortable with technology, dislike writing detailed reports, prefer hands-on clinical care, are not seeking a new clinical career direction, do not want to work with targets, or are unwilling to work onsite at least 3 days per week. Ingeus is a Disability Confident Employer and welcomes neurodiverse colleagues, providing a supportive and inclusive recruitment process with adjustments available as needed.
