About the Role
We’re looking for a Group Head of Risk Management to shape and strengthen risk management across Balfour Beatty. In this role, you’ll lead the development and evolution of our Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring risk management supports strategic decision-making, operational performance and long-term business success. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll provide independent oversight of a broad range of strategic, commercial, operational, financial and regulatory risks across a complex international business. This is a highly visible leadership position with regular exposure to the Executive Committee and Board.
Key responsibilities include leading and continuously enhancing the Group's Enterprise Risk Management framework; shaping risk strategy, policy and standards to align with business objectives; delivering insightful risk reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders; overseeing the identification, assessment and management of key strategic and operational risks; providing independent challenge and oversight of major projects, bids, contracts and investment decisions; driving effective management of emerging risks including market, regulatory, cyber, supply chain and climate-related risks; leading horizon scanning, scenario planning and risk-based decision-making activities; strengthening the integration of risk management, internal controls, compliance and assurance activities; building risk capability across the business through engagement, coaching and training; and championing a positive risk culture that supports operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Experience
Significant experience in risk management, governance, internal audit or related disciplines. Proven track record of leading risk functions within large, complex organisations. Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and corporate governance. Experience engaging with and influencing executive leaders, committees and Boards.

Ability to provide constructive challenge and drive informed decision-making. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Leadership presence with the capability to operate effectively at senior levels across a complex international business.
Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in risk management, governance, audit or related fields are desirable but not mandatory. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with emerging risks and best practices.
