About the Role
We’re growing – come grow with us! Are you an experienced specialist speech and language therapist ready to step up, or a current highly specialist therapist seeking a fresh opportunity to develop leadership skills and contribute to meaningful service development, especially in terms of universal and targeted offers in schools? Our Merton Speech and Language Therapy Team is expanding! We’re offering an exciting full-time highly specialist opportunity within our vibrant, friendly team. This role will support Merton’s response to the SEND reform and lead on delivery of our ‘experts at hand’ offer for speech and language therapy support in primary schools.

Our team works within the Local Authority across mainstream and specialist settings, the Youth Offending Team, and the Virtual School for Children in Care. We deliver high-quality statutory, targeted, and universal SLT support. We collaborate with educational professionals, occupational therapists, NHS health therapists, educational psychologists, and SEN teams to ensure a joined-up, inclusive approach to care.

We invest in our therapists through regular supervision (individual and peer-based), clinical leads in Autism, SEMH, DLD, and Complex Needs, funded internal and external CPD opportunities, strong links with City and UCL for student placements, opportunities to lead and share learning in your specialist area, and a focus on evidence-based practice and clinical autonomy.

HCPC and RCSLT membership fees are funded. The team supports flexible working, with admin time able to be completed at home where appropriate. Mileage and public transport costs for travel between schools are covered, as well as reimbursement of professional fees for HCPC and RCSLT membership.

Our team is proud to have established a Cultural Diversity Network that actively supports, embraces, and celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of our therapists. This network provides a safe, inclusive space for open dialogue, where team members can share challenges encountered in their roles and discuss best practices for managing them. We believe fostering a culture of respect and understanding enriches our work and helps us provide the best possible support to the children and young people we work with. Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive community that values diversity and is committed to continuous learning and growth.
