About the Role
We’re growing – come grow with us! Are you an experienced Band 5 ready to step up, or a current Band 6 therapist seeking a fresh opportunity to develop specialist skills and contribute to meaningful service development? Our Merton Speech and Language Therapy Team is expanding and offering exciting full-time Band 6 opportunities within a vibrant, friendly team. You will support pupils across a range of settings including a primary school ARP for pupils with Autism and a special school for children with PMLD. In the PMLD setting, there is no requirement to manage Dysphagia as this is managed by the NHS service. In the special school, you will join a team of five speech and language therapists working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT) in an outstanding special school for children aged 4-19, close to Morden Town Centre.
Our team works within the Local Authority across mainstream and special schools, the Youth Offending Team, and the Virtual School for Children in Care. We deliver high-quality statutory, targeted, and universal SLT support, collaborating closely with educational professionals, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and SEN teams to ensure a joined-up, inclusive approach to care.
We invest in our therapists through regular individual and peer supervision, clinical leads in Autism, SEMH, DLD, and Complex Needs, funded internal and external CPD opportunities, strong links with City and UCL for student placements, opportunities to lead and share learning in your specialist area, and a focus on evidence-based practice and clinical autonomy. HCPC and RCSLT membership fees are funded.
Flexible working arrangements are supported by excellent IT, with admin time able to be completed at home where appropriate. Mileage and public transport costs for travel between schools are covered, as well as reimbursement of professional fees for HCPC and RCSLT membership.
Our team has established a Cultural Diversity Network that actively supports, embraces, and celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of our therapists. This network provides a safe, inclusive space for open dialogue and sharing best practices, fostering a culture of respect and understanding that enriches our work and supports the children and young people we serve. Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive community committed to continuous learning and growth.
