About the Role
We are expanding our Merton Speech and Language Therapy Team and offering an exciting full-time specialist Speech and Language Therapist opportunity. This 1-year fixed term contract role will support Merton’s response to the SEND reform and deliver the ‘Experts at Hand’ offer for speech and language therapy support in primary schools. You will join a vibrant, friendly team working across mainstream and specialist settings, the Youth Offending Team, and the Virtual School for Children in Care. The role involves delivering high-quality statutory, targeted, and universal SLT support in collaboration with educational professionals, occupational therapists, NHS health therapists, educational psychologists, and SEN teams to ensure a joined-up, inclusive approach to care.

Support & Development
We invest in our therapists through regular individual and peer supervision, clinical leads in Autism, SEMH, DLD, and Complex Needs, funded internal and external CPD opportunities, strong links with City and UCL for student placements, opportunities to lead and share learning in your specialist area, and a focus on evidence-based practice and clinical autonomy. HCPC and RCSLT membership fees are funded.

Flexible Working
The team supports flexible working arrangements with excellent IT facilities. Admin time can be completed at home where appropriate. Mileage and public transport costs for travel between schools are covered, as well as reimbursement of professional fees for HCPC and RCSLT membership.

Cultural Diversity Network
Our team has established a Cultural Diversity Network that supports, embraces, and celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of our therapists. This network provides a safe, inclusive space for open dialogue and sharing best practices, fostering a culture of respect and understanding that enriches our work and enhances the support we provide to children and young people.
