About the Role
At Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH), customers are our number one priority. We have developed internal structures and roles to deliver excellent service to both customers and colleagues. As a Home Ownership Specialist on a 12-month fixed term contract, you will play a key role in providing proactive, customer-focused support and advice on home ownership matters. This role involves liaising with frontline customers, attending hearings and residents’ meetings, and ensuring all tasks comply with relevant policies and legislation.
The position can be challenging as you will handle complex information and legal processes, but it is equally rewarding as you will see the positive impact of your work on customers. You will receive strong support from your team and the wider organisation. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with MTVH policies, promoting corporate values of Care, Dare and Collaborate, and providing expert advice on home ownership issues.
You will engage with a variety of processes such as lease extensions, solicitor enquiries during conveyancing, re-mortgaging, leaseholder permissions, Right to Buy, Section 20 consultations, and producing final accounts. Cross-training opportunities will be provided to enable you to work effectively across different teams as needed, ensuring continuity of service during absences.
Experience
Proven ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Experience interpreting leases and understanding legal processes related to home ownership is essential. Familiarity with legislation such as Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Right to Buy under the Housing Act 1980 (Amended 1985), Housing (Right to Acquire) Regulations 1997, and the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 is beneficial.
About you
Detail-oriented with strong communication skills. You are proactive, customer-focused, and able to collaborate effectively across teams. You have the ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously and maintain accuracy and compliance. Proficiency in a wide range of IT systems and the MS Office suite is required to ensure smooth and effective operations.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or experience in housing, legal, or property management fields are advantageous but not explicitly stated. A willingness to learn and adapt through cross-training is essential.
