About the Role
At Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH), customers are our number one priority. We have developed internal structures and roles to deliver excellent service to both our customers and colleagues. As a Home Ownership Specialist on a 12-month fixed term contract, you will play a key role in providing proactive, customer-focused support and advice on home ownership matters. This role involves liaising with frontline customers, attending hearings and residents’ meetings, and ensuring all tasks comply with relevant policies and legislation.

The position can be challenging as you will manage complex information and legal processes, but it is also rewarding as you will see the positive impact of your work on customers. You will receive strong support from your team and the wider organisation. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with MTVH policies, promoting corporate values of Care, Dare and Collaborate, and providing expert advice on home ownership issues.

You will engage with a variety of processes such as re-mortgaging, leaseholder permissions, Right to Buy, Section 20 consultations, responding to observations, and producing final accounts. Cross-training opportunities will allow you to work with different teams to maintain effective service delivery during periods of absence or increased demand.

Requirements

Experience
Proven ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Experience interpreting leases and understanding legal processes related to home ownership such as lease extensions, solicitor enquiries during conveyancing, and varying leases. Familiarity with processes including re-mortgaging, leaseholder permissions, Right to Buy, Section 20 consultations, and producing final accounts is essential. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Right to Buy under the Housing Act 1980 (Amended 1985), Housing (Right to Acquire) Regulations 1997, and the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 is beneficial.

About You
Customer-focused, proactive, and communicative individual with a keen eye for detail. Able to collaborate effectively across teams and provide support during periods of absence. Comfortable attending hearings and residents’ meetings. Proficient in using a wide range of IT systems and the MS Office package to ensure smooth and effective process management.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated as mandatory; however, relevant experience and knowledge of home ownership legislation and processes are important for success in this role.
