The Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership is vital to these aims. The NSCP is made up of an Executive partnership two with sub-committees; Performance and Quality and Assurance; & Safeguarding Children Practice Review Group. A Safeguarding Education Reference Group has recently been established. There is a joint group of adults and children’s safeguarding leads looking at all age exploitation across all services and under this group is a task & finish group focused on Modern Day Slavery. You can find out more about the Partnership here: https://www.newhamscp.org.uk/boards-sub-committees ABOUT THE JOB The role of independent scrutiny is to provide assurance, through monitoring and challenge, in judging the effectiveness and quality of multi-agency arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in a local area. The Independent Scrutineer will be required to work approximately 20 days per year for an initial 3-year term – this work will include: Attending participating in Performance and Quality Assurance sub group meetings. Reviewing the quality of Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, ensuring that purposeful recommendations arise from such reviews and that agencies are held to account for the implementation of these recommendations until such time as they are fully completed. To review the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership’s Annual Report and plan. To provide challenge and assurance in the development of the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSCP) and to aid in dispute resolution within the NSCP. To ensure that the voice of the child is at the heart of all aspects of scrutiny and that our commitment to challenge discrimination and disproportionality is at the forefront of work and decisions. ABOUT YOU We are looking for a senior leader with significant experience at a strategic level within a statutory, voluntary, or independent organisation in the context of safeguarding children and child protection services. You will have an academic or professional qualification in social or health care, education, police a legal discipline and be of sufficient professional standing to command respect within the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership and beyond.
