Full Time with option of compressed hours working. Part-time working is also suitable with a minimum of 3 days / 22.2 hours per week due to business requirements.

About the Role
The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK through its work on counter-terrorism, policing, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. Home Office Digital designs, builds and develops services supporting millions of visa applications, border crossings, passport applications and police checks annually.

As an Infrastructure Engineer within Shared Application Support (SAS) Digital Support, you will design, build, support and improve IT infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. Your role ensures government services remain secure, resilient and compliant with government standards.

You will work in a team of Infrastructure Engineers to deliver and support infrastructure services, collaborating with third parties and technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational solutions.

Key responsibilities include building, configuring, transitioning, administering and supporting infrastructure technologies such as compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, cloud, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open-source packages. You will resolve technical problems, ensure solutions meet business requirements, investigate faults and advise on preventative measures, and work collaboratively with suppliers and vendors to deliver IT services.

Due to the need to maintain services 24/7, occasional out-of-hours work may be required, with additional allowance paid in line with Home Office policy.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience delivering IT services, support or technical solutions in a professional environment.
- Good understanding of ITIL v4 guidelines and ability to implement them in an IT support role.
- Strong understanding of core technical concepts related to infrastructure engineering and ability to build solutions.
- Ability to dissect problems into component parts to identify root causes and resolve issues effectively.

Qualifications
- No specific formal qualifications required, but evidence of technical skills in Incident Management (USUP) Level 2, IT Infrastructure (ITOP) Level 2, and Systems Design (DESN) Level 3 is essential.
- Candidates will be assessed against the Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession Career Framework aligned with the SFIA framework.
- Security clearance and eligibility to work in the UK are required.
