About the Role
The Software Engineer Summer Internship at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) offers a unique opportunity to experience a career within the Post Trade Solutions (PTS) engineering team. You will work on real projects alongside experienced engineers in the Optimisation Core Technology Team, part of the Post Trade Engineering division based in London. The team designs and builds systems that securely deliver optimisation services to financial market participants, handling risk and trade data, and providing timely feedback to clients. Our cloud-based systems leverage AWS technologies including lambdas, EC2, RDS, and Redshift.
As an intern, you will collaborate with a team of 5-10 engineers to build and improve applications and environments, working closely with the Product Development team to enhance services based on client feedback and strategic initiatives. Possible projects include designing workflows for data quality checks on financial data, collaborating with Analytics to integrate pricing algorithms, building internal portals for product teams, implementing connectivity to external booking systems, and enhancing task queueing systems.
This internship is designed for penultimate or final year undergraduate students planning to continue to a Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field for the 2027/28 academic year. It provides hands-on experience in financial engineering within a dynamic and innovative environment.
Experience
Solid understanding of Python for executable and repeatable programs (beyond data analytics). Familiarity with UNIX command line. Some experience with AWS and/or frontend development is a plus.
About you
Passionate about pursuing a career in Financial Engineering and eager to learn about the full breadth of the business. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Curious about data with the ability to analyse information, draw conclusions, and propose solutions. Able to demonstrate that what you achieve is as important as how you achieve it. Must have the right to work in London or New York City without restrictions for the duration of the internship.
Qualifications
Currently in penultimate or final year of an undergraduate degree and planning to continue to a Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant technical field for academic year 2027/28.
