About the Role
Community Neighbourhoods are localised networks that bring together physical assets like libraries and community centres with social assets such as volunteering and sports activities to increase people’s networks. They are central to the Council’s vision for developing community resilience by building community infrastructure that enables residents to network, volunteer, and be active, thereby strengthening community cohesion and resilience.
As a Community Neighbourhood Assistant, you will be the ‘face’ of Community Neighbourhoods within libraries, community centres, and at Community Neighbourhood events. Your role will involve engaging with residents and ensuring the smooth running of facilities on a day-to-day basis. Much of your work will include library duties such as stock tidying, floor walking, and assisting residents with self-service and online systems. The role also covers community centres and events.
You will assist in the daily opening and closing procedures of libraries and community centres and support senior officers with the day-to-day running of sites.
Experience
You should have experience working with the public and be comfortable interacting with residents.
About you
You need to be motivated, flexible, and able to work in an organised way. Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills are essential. A high degree of flexibility is required as you may be asked to work in a variety of locations as needed. If you enjoy working with people and want the opportunity to work across a range of functions in Community Neighbourhoods, we encourage you to apply.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated as mandatory for this role, but relevant experience and skills in public engagement and facility support are important.
