Hours
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. You will be based in the central office but are required to travel regularly to different services mainly around Kent.

Salary
£26,000 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our Maintenance and Estates team based in Kent. You will work across several services to provide excellent customer service to residents, participants, staff, and external contractors. Your role will involve carrying out repairs and maintenance to ensure properties are safe, meet our standards, and provide a homely environment. You will coordinate repair operations, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver timely, high-quality maintenance across our property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance, and property inspections to maintain SIG’s standards.
- Manage inventories by monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
- Coordinate external contractors such as electricians and roofers to ensure high-standard work.
- Promote and adhere to best practices in health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Proactively address health, safety, and environmental concerns and report incidents or risks appropriately.
- Contribute to regular risk reviews and support mitigation strategies.

Important
A Full Manual UK Driving Licence is essential due to the travel requirements of this role.

Requirements

Experience
Proven multi-trade technical skills, particularly in carpentry and plumbing, with hands-on experience in general property maintenance. Ability to diagnose issues efficiently and deliver high-quality solutions.

You are an organised self-starter with excellent attention to detail, able to identify small defects before they escalate. You can manage multiple priorities, maintain inventories, and handle administrative tasks using digital systems. You work well independently and as part of a team, thrive in fast-paced environments, and proactively resolve challenges. You demonstrate a collaborative mindset and creative thinking to drive service improvements. You are committed to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical conduct aligned with SIG values.

Qualifications
A Full Manual UK Driving Licence is essential. Other formal qualifications are not specified but relevant trade skills and experience are required.
