About the Role
British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, committed to passenger safety and operational excellence. We are seeking an NDFU Insight Analyst to join the National Disruption Fusion Unit (NDFU), playing a pivotal role in transforming complex data into meaningful insight to reduce disruption, improve safety, and support informed decision-making across the railway network.
As a multi-disciplinary analytical specialist, you will combine intelligence analysis, performance analysis, and data science techniques to develop innovative tactical and strategic products for a wide range of stakeholders. Using cutting-edge analytical methods and technologies, you will identify emerging trends, uncover opportunities for improvement, and provide evidence-based recommendations to help prevent major disruption events before they occur.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver innovative national insight products and reports supporting decision-making across BTP, Network Rail, and wider industry partners.
- Analyse complex data sets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that reduce disruption, improve railway safety, and enhance network performance.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting solutions, including Power BI products, to enable stakeholder self-service and increase automation.
- Produce high-quality analytical reports with clear findings, evidence-based recommendations, and practical solutions for operational and strategic challenges.
- Present analytical insights to senior leaders and industry stakeholders, translating complex information into concise, impactful briefings and recommendations.
- Monitor emerging trends and conduct horizon scanning to identify potential future risks, support continuous improvement, and help prevent major disruption events.

The NDFU is a national, pan-industry unit requiring regular travel to both BTP and Network Rail sites across the country.

Experience
Proven experience conducting research and analysis, including interpreting complex information and producing insightful reports and recommendations.
Experience managing and analysing large data sets using analytical tools and Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Power BI.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, solve problems, and develop innovative evidence-based solutions.
