About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist for adults at Barnet Council, you will provide a quality Occupational Therapy service in line with the Council’s duties and powers under legislation and divisional policies. Your role will include conducting professional functional assessments for older people, adults with physical, sensory or learning disabilities, and carers, focusing on meeting social care outcomes as outlined in the Department of Health’s Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework. You will carry out urgent assessments and risk assessments, providing interventions to mitigate risk through equipment such as moving and handling aids. You will recommend and arrange for equipment and minor adaptations ranging from simple aids to complex specialist chairs and shower chairs, and refer for major housing adaptations via the Disabled Facility Grant or other relevant pathways. Safeguarding adults and carers at risk of harm, promoting Making Safeguarding Personal principles and wellbeing, and reviewing equipment, adaptations, and interventions provided are key responsibilities. Ensuring wellbeing principles are central to assessment and care planning is essential. Barnet Council values its staff and is committed to its core values of Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, and Collaborative, which guide all work within the organisation.
