About the Role
Join Adult Social Care as an Occupational Therapist within the Adults First Contact Service (AFCS) on a fixed term contract until September 2026. This role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your career in social care, working within a multidisciplinary team to provide strength-based assessments that enhance independence and well-being for residents. You will be responsible for screening and prioritising referrals received through the Contact Centre, proactively addressing immediate Occupational Therapy and social care needs to prevent longer term support requirements. The role includes carrying a small caseload of priority cases benefiting from short-term preventative Occupational Therapy interventions such as moving and handling, equipment, and adaptations.
Under the guidance of the Team Manager and Principal Occupational Therapist, you will carry out comprehensive specialist assessments, make recommendations for major and minor adaptations, prescribe assistive equipment, and risk assess moving and handling needs. Sutton embraces hybrid working, combining face-to-face visits with residents and opportunities to work remotely.
The Occupational Therapy Hub unifies Occupational Therapy and Sensory services within social care, offering professional leadership, career development opportunities including apprenticeships, and a unique Preceptorship for new or returning therapists. Sutton is proud to be one of the only London boroughs to have launched this Preceptorship to support and develop therapists.
