About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant Team Manager to join our Social Care Occupational Therapy Service, supporting both children and adults to achieve greater independence and improved quality of life. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills while continuing to utilise your clinical expertise in a supportive and forward-thinking team.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant Team Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the leadership and management of the Occupational Therapy Service. You will work alongside the Occupational Therapy Manager to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred service, while maintaining a complex caseload.

You will undertake assessments within service users' homes and assessment environments, considering functional ability, cognition, safety, and independence. Working collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, health professionals, and housing partners, you will identify practical solutions that enable people to live safely and independently.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for children and adults in their homes and community settings.
- Assess functional and cognitive abilities and identify interventions to promote independence.
- Recommend and prescribe equipment, assistive technology, and practical strategies to meet assessed needs.
- Provide advice and recommendations relating to housing needs and major adaptations.
- Support the supervision, development, and wellbeing of Occupational Therapy staff.
- Assist with case allocation and workload management across the team.
- Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and partnership forums.
- Support service development, quality improvement initiatives, and performance management.
- Deputise for the Occupational Therapy Manager in their absence.
- Promote best practice and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and professional standards.

Requirements

Experience
- Occupational Therapy practice within social care or health settings.
- Strong assessment skills including moving and handling.
- Knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, housing recommendations, and moving and handling principles.
- Experience of supporting, mentoring, or supervising staff.

About you
- Passionate about supporting people to remain as independent as possible.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and support service delivery across a busy team.
- Positive, solution-focused approach to leadership and partnership working.

Qualifications
- Degree (BSc or MSc) in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
